the orphanage blog and imbedded video

this blog is maintained by pierre, the wonderful man who runs the orphanage. there are a few pages of information available, however most of the information on the kids is kept private for their safety. you can see in the hyperlink in this post's title that there is a mission video posted on this page. it gives a nice view of the grounds and the kids playing. we're excited to see little snippets here and there as we can find them. of course it will be nothing compared to actually getting there and seeing our son and his little friends for ourselves.

we were happy to hear word yesterday that haitians were able to successfully elect a new president but that the polls are still being tallied. there has been much unrest in recent months over the election and we sincerely hope that the person who is elected will bring peace and comfort to this healing nation. with news of the election, missionaries like the ones seen in the above mentioned clip as well as a young woman who has been at the maison for the past several months were asked to immediately leave the country for their safety. they hope to return soon to continue their work with the children.

we are still waiting word on our referral and can appreciate that the delay may largely be due to the unrest and uncertainty regarding who will run the new ministry. with a new election, in addition to our own referral we hope to see a change in policy that will remedy the long delay in bringing our children home post referral.

haiti has long been left alone in the world and for those of us who are trying to extend a hand, we hope that our love will soon be received.
