Finally putting my degree to good use!

I'm trying to get back in the scene. I've been in a couple of art festivals this summer and got my website going again. So check me out and pass me around. If your interested in anything contact me because I also do custom work. These are just a few of my favorite peices but click on the link and there are a couple more to browse through. http://jenhaefeli.etsy.com

sweet little tweet...our mother's day visitor...

our trip to the farmer's market was a bit more than we had bargained for, but it taught us a few lessons:

1 - if you find a baby bird, try to put it back in its nest. it is a wives tale that the mother will smell a human scent and discard the baby. 2 - a call to the raptor center and a rehabilitation specialist is imperitive (they always want to help). 3 - don't feed the bird anything, despite their little chirps of hunger. 4 - keep it in a butter tub or something similar, pad it with toilet paper and place it on a heating pad on a low setting. 5 - hope that the little buddy will make it through the night until rescue rehabilitation bird experts can recover it from you.

tweet didn't make it through the night and is now in a birdie grave in our back yard. poor thing. he was so sweet. the next time someone at the farmer's market finds a bird and tries to pawn it off on a kid by claiming that said child can become a hero for rescuing the bird - at least we'll know what to do. we'll also know that the unfortunate reality for even well cared for wild birds is a mortality rate of 50%.

harder... better... stronger... faster!

for those of you daft punks who like a little jig.

charlottemoms.com submission for mother's day

we were supposed to make it into the paper, but alas we were cut. smirk! anyhoo, at least we have said our tid bit and given the kids a nod for their special part on our day. if you click on the title of this post it will link you to the story and the photo that my relic of a computer (sadly it really is only 5 years old) will not let me post as it has declined its former abilities to allow me to send/post photos...piece of junk! expensive piece of junk! ah, i could get angry and start slapping it around but it could then decide not to let me blog too!

oh cool! now there's a photo. thanks to my cousin camilla and her super-duper blogging skillz. thanks camilla!

Why I love being a Mom
The tender kisses, the late night wishes,
The songs we sing, the memories they bring.
I hold each one close to my heart,
They are my most magnificent art,
Their little hands, feet, toes,
Their little eyes, their teeth, their nose,
I made these all with the best of care,
How much I would love them I was unaware.
Of the roles I'll play throughout my life daughter, sister, wife,
It is my most important to be Mom,
For my children are my love, they are my life.

this is how we do it...

i like big cakes and i can not lie, you other grubbers can't deny, when
your mom walks in with an itty bitty plate and a great big piece of
cake you get sprung!

since i can't load photos, i'm pouring the video content of my computer
onto this blog. at least now everyone can see the hilarious nature of
our children with a few clips from leo's first birthday party.

why we should all go a little greener

this chunk of ice melts at such a rapid rate that the water
released from the bottom constantly sprays with a force that can rock a cruise
ship.

you may say, "well then stupid don't take a cruise into such fragile
areas of our environment"! and my response is, yes you're right. that
said, the cruise lines have taken measures to reduce the print they
make on the waterways. it is one of the most amazing things that i've
ever seen. i wish the world could see what we're losing. well here you
go.

keep in mind that there are small changes that can be made. we all know
that individual water bottles require vast amounts of petroleum to
manufacture them. so perhaps use your own filtered water and a reusable
bottle. its cheaper and better for mother earth. it may also get some
of the schmucks in the manufacturing industries as well as in
washington to revisit the idea that we are tired of throwing away a
large portion of our paychecks on non-renewable resources. start using
reusable grocery bags. if you want i'll make you some pretty funky
one's that will surely have every eye in your grocery store wondering
who you're awesome and certainly crafty friends are and how they can be
part of our click. just lemme know!

so i'm a long way from being able to put my garbage in my suv (yes i
own one too) and fly off into the future to rearrange my children's
attitudes with dr. emmett brown, but i can start by encouraging my
friends and family to stand up and take notice of what we throw away,
what we don't reuse, what we don't recyle and realize that it's pretty
stupid not to. we just can't afford not to any more. besides, is it
really still hip to be square? i say ride the green train. i'll step
down from my soapbox for today. don't worry, i'll be right back on it
tomorrow.

i was attempting to share millions of pictures through this blog....

however, i am unable to do this. arghhhhh!! to say the least. the photo button exists and is apparently functionless...kind of like the third grade teacher i had in a california
public school. what ever. i guess everyone will just have to wait for
the button to decide to function and then we'll all bask in the
funniness that is my children. 'til then, ciao baby.

our new addition leo is growing and growing...

leo is growing and growing....he was huge at birth, a stark contrast to his predecessor! britt was little and quiet and always very good...

leo...well, let's say he's really cute!

return of the two silly girls and now boy (s)

so...we're back! we didn't fall off the face of the earth we just slept a while, pumped out a baby (wow things have been crazy) and now it is time to start again...new house, new dogs, new baby...here we go!
