breast cancer awareness month...

after weekly visits to mcgee women's cancer center here in pittsburgh, pa to have my iron infusions, i've gained a whole new group of lovely friends. i've promised them that i will spread the word in an effort to gain participants in this wonderful effort called the army of women. please join - it's easy, free, and you only have to participate in studies that apply to you. it is non-invasive and can help scientists find a cure! we can all help save the ta-ta's!

the house has a second floor now!

well we're in pause mode for a few days - the rain is supplying sustenance for the environment, but alas has put a hold on the use of powered tools. we'll kick it up a notch next week i'm sure, and will probably have a roof soon.

the recent drama over this house has prompted us to rethink the idea of having a city dwelling as well (yes, we're pathetic) and using this lovely country home as our weekend escape - a mere 12 miles away. sad. so dreadfully sad. but what can we say, we're tired of the gridlock already.

stay tuned!

empire state of mind!

a whirl-wind trip to the big apple started with a stretch limo whisking us from the airport to the grand deluxe suite at the omni berkshire on 52 and madison 5th in manhattan. then a day of power shopping in soho and china town to kick off vogue's fashion night out starring my lady jasmine commerce at the 9 west flagship store. joss stone dropped in with a crew of famous people and kicked things off in sardine squeezed style. we feasted our eyes upon america's top model, actors and actresses, as well as a cluster of designers, and elbow rubbers. it was nothing shy of fantastic, especially the view my little diva received - a mere 2 feet from all the performances of the evening. then we dined at a sweet little jazz club and hitched a rickshaw ride back to the hotel to conclude our first day in the big apple. saturday we woke up to the lamentation of 9.11 and paid our respects. our afternoon was spent in the lower east side, followed by a wicked fantastic performance of our now new favorite play, wicked! did i mention that it was wicked?! we wrapped things up by hitting the top of the rock before hopping our little jet home. what a weekend! plains, trains, automobiles of all kinds, and now a rickshaw. we pretty much did it all. next time i'm doing the art tour! but this weekend was all about britt - happy birthday monkey!

the house is coming along...

here are the latest photos of the basement. yay - a basement. who knew one could be so stupidly excited to see basic concrete slathered in some sort of black junk.
